VILLE PLATTE – Funeral services will be held at a 3:00 PM Mass of Christian Burial at Sacred Heart of Jesus Roman Catholic Church in Ville Platte on Monday, January 18, 2021 for Scott A. McDaniel, 57, who passed away on Friday, January 15, 2021 at Mercy Regional Medical Center in Ville Platte.

Burial will take place in the Sacred Heart Mausoleum.

Scott Anthony McDaniel was born September 22, 1963 to Cynthia LeDoux Wilks and the late Terry McDaniel.  Scott was a business owner and entrepreneur in the Evangeline Parish community for many years, holding a B.S. in Business Administration from the University of Louisiana Lafayette.  Throughout his life, he was a dedicated sports fan. He loved the LSU Tigers and New Orleans Saints and made a point to never miss a game, whether he had to listen by the radio or a handheld TV—he just had to tune in. Scott also had a deep love for the Houston Astros and lived out a lifelong dream in attending their Fantasy Camp. Scott loved all sports and took pride in coaching each of his five daughters at some point in time.

Scott was also a lover of music. Classic rock was his favorite. Anyone who knew him can recall a memory of him in his truck banging on the steering wheel to some Eagles or Kiss song. He played guitar, but his real passion was the drums, and he was an exceptional drummer.  Scott loved the little things in life. He loved a beautiful sunny day with a slightly colder temperature, a good buffet, and an exciting duck hunt. But most of all, he loved his family.

Scott will be lovingly remembered by his fiancé, Debi Fontenot; his mother and step father Cynthia & Glenn Wilks; his five daughters and their husbands, Danyelle & Justin O’Neal, Alycia & Jonathon Hebert, Brooke & Cole Bryant, Sydia & Daniel Robin, and Ainsley & Joshua LaHaye; his grandchildren, Nora Robin, Anniston O’Neal, Reese Zanca Hebert, Baylor O’Neal, Elliott Bryant, Harrison LaHaye, Patrick Robin, and Emily Bryant; his brother and spouse, Daren & Andi McDaniel; his sisters and spouses, Dana & Jim Docherty and Laurie McDaniel & Robbie Devillier; and his nieces Kelly Newsom, Katie Vines, Jillian Docherty, Jaclyn Docherty, Mallory Landry, and Isabella Brassette.

Scott was preceded in death by his father, Terry McDaniel, and godchild, Kyle Landry.

The family requests that visitation be observed at Ardoin’s Funeral Home in Ville Platte on Monday, January 18, 2021 from 12:00 PM until time of service.  A rosary, led by Deacon Gary Gaudin, will be prayed in his honor Monday at 2:00 PM.
