Funeral Services for Stephen Anthony “Chocolate” Manuel will be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday, November 13, 2022, in the Chapel at Ardoin’s Funeral Home of Ville Platte. Father Andrew Killeen will be the officiant of the service followed by Entombment at Sacred Heart Mausoleum.
Stephen “Chocolate” Manuel, 72, passed away on Thursday, November 10, 2022, in New Orleans, LA. He was born on September 27, 1950, in Ville Platte and was a Ville Platte resident for most of his life. Stephen was preceded in death by his father, Ishmael Joseph “Black” Manuel and his mother, Marjorie Mary Vidrine Manuel. Stephen was an avid hunter and a life-long LSU football fan. He was a talented musician and played saxophone in several local bands. Stephen was a devoted father and grandfather and loved spending time with his family. He received his undergraduate degree from Louisiana State University and his Pharmacy degree from Northeast Louisiana University. Before retirement Stephen worked as a pharmacist at Lafayette General Hospital and served as a relief pharmacist at Blake’s Pharmacy.
He is survived by daughters, Simone Manuel Almon and her husband Matthew Almon, along with their three children, June, Ames, and Amelie, of New Orleans, Louisiana; Briane Manuel Jones and her husband Tom Jones of Everett, Washington along with their three children Josephine, Eloise, and Adeline; sister, Anne Lafleur of Ville Platte, Louisiana; brother, Timothy Manuel of Ville Platte, Louisiana; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held from 12:00 PM - 2:00 PM at Ardoin’s Funeral Home of Ville Platte.
