Raphael Delafosse

VILLE PLATTE – Funeral Services will be held at a 3:00 PM Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady Queen of All Saints Catholic Church in Ville Platte on Tuesday, May 19, 2020, for Raphael J. Delafosse, 88, who passed away on Monday, May 18, 2020 in Mamou, LA  surrounded by his loving family.

Father Mitch Guidry, Pastor of Our Lady Queen of All Saints Catholic Church, will be celebrant of the mass and conduct funeral services.

Burial will take place in Gates of Heaven Cemetery.

Raphael J. Delafosse was born on November 22, 1931 in Grand Prairie, LA to Bruno Delafosse and Eula Phillip Delafosse. Raphael worked in the body shop business for 45 years. He was known as the best body shop man in Ville Platte.  He enjoyed spending time outdoors, whether he was squirrel hunting or fishing.  He loved goo fishing in Simmesport and catching catfish and white perch at Chicot State Park.  His family meant the world to him and he loved them immensely. He will be greatly missed and fondly remembered by those that knew him.

Raphael is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Alice Fontenot Delafosse; his sons, Ricky Delafosse and wife Joan and  Anthony Delafosse and wife Cindy; daughter, Rena Delafosse; four grandchildren, Michelle Lebleu, Kitty Jo Deshotel and husband Jason, Ginger DesHotels and husband Shea, and Joshua Delafosse; 8 great grandchildren, Parker Landreneau, Hayden Deshotel. Gabrielle Lebleu, Aubrey Lebleu, Ellie Rose Deshotel, Ivy Deshotel, Iyla DesHotels, and Beau Blaine DesHotels; sisters, Myrtle Landeaureau , and Verbie Fontenot; and brother, Don Delafosse

He is preceded in death by his parents, Bruno and Eula Delafosse; brothers JD Delafosse, Hersey Delafosse, Verlon Delafosse, Herley Delafosse; and sisters, Molly Tate, Hazel Ortego, Jeanette Comeaux,

The family requests that visitation be observed at Ardoin’s Funeral Home of Ville Platte on Tuesday, May 19, 2020 from 9:00 AM until time of service.  A rosary will be recited by Deacon Ben Soileau at 11:00 AM.
