Nazel Guillory

February 20, 1922 — November 30, 2021

VILLE PLATTE– Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM, with a Mass of Christian Burial at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church in Ville Platte on Thursday, December 2, 2021, for Nazel Guillory, 99, who passed away peacefully at her residence on Tuesday, November 30, 2021, surrounded by her loving family.

Father Tom Voorhies will be celebrant of the Mass and will conduct funeral services.

Burial will take place in Evangeline Memorial Cemetery.

Nazel Guillory was born on February 20, 1922, to Alexson and Etta Guillory.  Nazel was a devout Catholic and an active parishioner of Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church.  She was a member of Come Lord Jesus, volunteered at the Christian Care & Share Center, and worked many of the food drives held at the church.  Her love for serving carried over into helping at the nursing home by leading a prayer group and donating door prizes for the bingo games they hosted.  Nazel’s faith was strong, and she raised her family to believe in God’s love.  She was an amazing example of integrity to many. Her family and friends will miss her dearly, but rejoice in knowing she is celebrated in heaven.

Nazel is survived by her son, George Wedry Guillory and wife, Fonda; daughter, Angela Guillory Fusilier; daughter in law, Desiree Guillory; grandchildren, Gayle Godeaux, Jeremy Guillory, Ladd Guillory, Jacob Fusilier, Allison Fusilier, and Robert Fusilier; and great grandchildren, Lacey Godeaux Boyne, Tyler Godeaux, Hannah Chachere, Cody Guillory, Chelsie Guillory Wilson, Caleb Guillory, West Guillory, Savannah Guillory,Ainsleigh Wilks, Kael Fusilier, and Olivia Fusilier; and eight great-great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Voicy Guillory; parents, Alexson and Etta Guillory; son, Steven Guillory; grandson, Scott Guillory; daughter in law, Deanna Guillory; brothers, Gilbert Guillory and Mason Guillory; sisters, Beulah Fontenot, Mabel Ledoux, Rena Fontenot, Ruby Thompson, Luna McDaniel, and Nella Mae Ardoin.

At the request of the family, visitation will be observed at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church in Ville Platte on Thursday, December 2, 2021, from 9:00 AM until 9:30 AM.  A rosary will be recited on Thursday at 9:30 AM.
