VILLE PLATTE – Funeral Services will be held at a 1:00 PM Mass of Christian Burial, at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church in Ville Platte, on Thursday, December 3, 2020 for Gay Soileau Pucheu, 87, who passed away peacefully on December 1, 2020 in Lafayette, LA surrounded by her loving family.

Father Mario Romero will be celebrant of the Mass and conduct services.  Father Tom Voorhies, pastor of Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, will be concelebrant of the mass.

Interment will take place at Evangeline Memorial Park.

Alice Gay Pucheu was born in Ville Platte, LA on December 26, 1932 to Audley and Alice Ste. Marie Soileau. Gay was a devout Catholic and lifelong parishioner of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.  She prayed her rosary daily and was an active member of the Catholic Daughters. Gay loved music and enjoyed singing in the church choir.  She enjoyed spending time outdoors working in her yard and tending to her garden.  She had a great love for family and was a warm, loving, and devoted mother and grandmother.  Her family and friends will miss her dearly but rejoice in knowing she is celebrated in heaven.

She is survived by her daughters, Paula Guillory of Lafayette and Pam Reynoir and husband, Vance of New Orleans; sons, Doug Pucheu of Ville Platte; Guy Pucheu and wife, Kim of Ville Platte; and Jay Pucheu and wife, Beth of Moreauville; brothers, Gaynor Soileau and wife, Janice of Ville Platte and David Soileau of Austin, TX; sister, Lisa Soileau of Austin, TX; eight grandchildren, Andrew Guillory, Blaire Bobo, Zachary Pucheu, Joshua Pucheu, Victoria Lenox, Jacques Reynoir, Will Reynoir, and Adele Reynoir; and seven great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband J. William Pucheu, father, Audley Soileau; mother Alice Ste. Marie Soileau; stepmother, Inez Soileau; sister, Khaki Soileau Fontenot; and grandsons, Matthew Guillory and Adam Guillory.

At the request of the family, visitation will take place at Ardoin’s Funeral Home of Ville Platte on Thursday, December 3, 2020 from 9:00 AM until time of service.  A rosary will be recited at 12:00 PM.
