VILLE PLATE – Funeral services will be held at a 1:00 PM Mass of Christian Burial at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church in Belaire Cove on Monday, March 16, 2020 for Charles Seldon “Squeaky” Fontenot, 74, who passed away on Friday, March 13, 2020, in Alexandria.

Father Tom Voorhies will be celebrant of the Mass and conduct funeral services.

Burial will take place in the Sacred Heart of Jesus Cemetery in Belaire Cove.

Charles Fontenot was born in Belaire Cove on July 22, 1945 to Cieus and Bertha Fontenot.  Charles was a hard worker;  he worked in New Orleans as a waiter at Antoine’s Restaurant and also at Barney’s Cleaners in Opelousas.  Charles loved the outdoors; he enjoyed gardening and fishing on the Red River most of all.  Charles will be greatly missed by family and friends.

He is survived by his sister, Kathy Lafleur and husband, Charles; his nieces and nephews; and his best friend, Ivan Lafleur.

Charles is preceded in death by his parents, Cieus and Bertha Fontenot.

The family requests that visitation be observed at Ardoin’s Funeral Home in Ville Platte on Monday, March 16, 2020 from 8:00 AM until time of service.  A rosary will be recited on Monday at 11:00 AM led by Jane Dupre.
