Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM at North Eunice Baptist Church in Eunice on Tuesday, September 1, 2020 for Billy James Johnston, 39, who passed away on Monday, August 24 in Lafayette.
Burial will take place in the Mount Calvary Cemetery in Eunice.
Billy James Johnston was born in Georgia on April 26, 1981 to Benjamin “Ben” Johnston and Florence “Nell” Long Johnston. He spent many years of his childhood growing up in his favorite state, Tennessee. Billy was a gifted singer, songwriter, and musician. He used his incredible talent for the glory of God, writing Christian music, playing at various churches, and recording albums of his own. He was a graduate of T. H. Harris in HVAC and was a certified computer programmer by trade. Billy worked in the air conditioning industry for over 15 years, being one of the best technicians in the state. He was very adventurous and loved to travel. Billy especially enjoyed waterfalls and the serenity of the mountains. His greatest accomplishment was that of being a loving and caring husband, father, and friend to many. Billy was kindhearted and always put others before himself, helping anyone in need. He will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered by those who knew him.
Billy is survived by the love of his life and wife of 18 years, Sara Venable Johnston, of Church Point; daughter, Kallie Rachelle Johnston, of Richard; son, Elijah Paul Johnston of Richard; brothers, Brian Johnston and wife, Naomi of Big Cane and Bobby Johnston and wife, Millie, of Richard; father and mother in law, Albert Sr. and Faye R. Venable of Church Point; sister in law, Leslie Fogle and husband Dana of New York; and brothers in law, Al Venable and wife, Sue, and Blake Venable and wife, Brooke.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Benjamin “Ben” Johnston and Florence “Nell” Long Johnston.
The family requests that visitation be observed at North Eunice Baptist Church in Eunice on Monday, August 31 beginning at 10:00 AM and continuing until time of service on Tuesday.
