Annie Lee Fontenot Saucier, 85, passed away on Sunday, January 30, 2022, at Heritage Manor in Opelousas. Annie worked as a sales associate at TG&Y for many years and went on to become an inspector at Holloway Sportwear, where she retired in 1998.  She was a loving and devoted homemaker, wife, mother and beloved grandmother.  Wife to farmer, Yat Saucier, she loved to watch the cows and the chickens and all their other farm animals in the pastures.  Annie enjoyed cooking and loved to bake and found joy in helping and caring for others.  She was devoted to her faith and attended Sunday Mass at the old St. Andrew’s Church in Plaisance and later at St. Peters in Grand Prairie.  She loved the lord and never skipped reciting her rosary nightly in English and then in French. She was loved by many and will be dearly missed.

She is survived by two sons, Merrill Fontenot of Plaisance and Danny Fontenot of Ville Platte; brother, Raymond Fontenot of Plaisance; three grandchildren, Alex Fontenot, Alaina Fontenot, and Amy Fontenot; and five great-grandchildren, Jasmine, Chelsey, Joseph Randall, Kalup, and Kanon.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Atwood “Yat” Saucier’ parents, Alphonse Fontenot and Carrie Dupre Fontenot; and sisters, Gerry Pitre, Rose Lafleur, Ruth Soileau, and Loretta Bertrand and grandson, Daniel Kade Fontenot.

Visitation will be held at Ardoin’s Funeral Home of Ville Platte on Wednesday, February 9, 2022, from 4:00 PM until 10:00 PM.  Deacon Chuck Ortego will pray a rosary on Wednesday at 6:00 PM.  Visitation will resume on Tuesday, February 10, 2022, from 9:00 AM until time of service.
