Obituary

William "Billy" Brignac, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and devoted family man, passed away peacefully on June 14, 2026, in his hometown of Ville Platte, Louisiana. Born on March 20, 1944, in Ville Platte, Billy lived a life marked by dedication to family, service, and the community.

Billy honorably served his country overseas in Korea as a member of the United States Army, embodying courage and commitment. After his military service, he continued to exemplify strength and devotion in all aspects of life. A true outdoorsman, he cherished time spent hunting and fishing, particularly squirrel and rabbit, and he found joy in coaching children’s baseball teams and watching his grandchildren play the sports they loved.

He was a man of many passions and talents. Billy was a dedicated LSU fan and committed to daily visits to the health club. He loved to cook, bringing family and friends together for Sunday dinners. Together with his wife, Janice LaFleur Brignac, whom he loved for 58 years, he attended the Swamp Pop music festival annually, creating cherished memories. Family camping trips with his sons and grandchildren were times of joy and bonding, and his pride in his yard and gardening reflected his care and meticulous nature.

Billy was preceded in death by his parents, Lucas and Hazel Brignac, and his brother, J.L. Brignac. He is survived by a loving circle of family members who carry forward his legacy. His devoted wife, Janice LaFleur Brignac of Ville Platte, stood by his side throughout a lifetime of love. His sons, Trent Brignac and wife Julie Vidrine Brignac of Ville Platte, and Ryan Brignac and wife Christi Brignac of Lafayette, continue to be pillars of strength in the family. He also leaves behind his brother Brent "Zig" Brignac and wife Mitzi of Ville Platte; sisters Janice Soileau and husband Gene "Swabby" Soileau, and Claire Brignac Horton and husband Ken Horton, all of Ville Platte; as well as beloved grandchildren Olivia Brignac of New Orleans, Cole Brignac of New Orleans, Madeleine Brignac of Jackson, Mississippi, Brett Brignac of Lafayette, and Bryce Brignac of Lafayette. Sister-in-laws Shurlene Fruge and Tina Saucier of Ville Platte also survive him.

Billy’s presence was a source of strength and comfort to all who knew him. He passed surrounded by loved ones, leaving an imprint of love, dedication, and warmth that will forever enrich the lives of his family and friends.

Services to honor and celebrate the life of William "Billy" Brignac will begin with a visitation on June 16, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic church. A rosary will be prayed at 1:30 PM, with a Mass beginning at 2:00 PM. A burial will immediately follow at Sacred Heart Mausoleum with Father Mitch Guidry officiating.

Billy Brignac’s enduring spirit, devotion to family, love of community, and passion for life serve as a lasting tribute to a remarkable man whose memory will be cherished by all who had the privilege to know him.
