Obituary

Wilbert J Ardoin, beloved patriarch, devoted civic leader, and cherished friend to many, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 14, 2026, in Moss Bluff, Louisiana, at the age of 94. Born on Wednesday, April 13, 1932, in Mamou, Louisiana, Wilbert’s journey through life was marked by his unwavering commitment to his family, faith, and community. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1:00 p.m. at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church in Ville Platte on Wednesday, August 19, 2026. Burial will follow at the Evangeline Memorial Park Cemetery with Father Cole Zaunbrecher officiating services.

Wilbert was a selfless and devoted Catholic who was the loving foundation of his family. His kindness, strength, and spirit touched the lives of all who knew him. Throughout his life, Wilbert was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. His family was his pride and joy; he celebrated their successes and provided unfailing support in their times of need.

Wilbert’s dedication to his community was evident in his distinguished 44-year career with the Evangeline Parish Police Jury. Serving as secretary treasurer for 25 years, he was instrumental in the growth and development of the parish. His vision and determination played a significant role in the creation of cherished community landmarks, including the Crooked Creek Reservoir—in collaboration with Governor Edwin Edwards—as well as the establishment of the Ville Platte Little League program and the recruitment of new industrial plants. Wilbert’s work leaves a lasting legacy that continues to benefit the people of Evangeline Parish. Wilbert was an advocate for the people, connecting easily with everyone he met and leaving a lasting impression

Wilbert will live on in the hearts of those he leaves behind including his grandchildren, Danny Ardoin (Hope) and Shelly Ardoin; great grandchildren, Drew Ardoin (Madigan), Silas Ardoin, Erin Ardoin, Samuel Ardoin, Haleigh Ardoin, and Gabriel Ardoin; great great grandchildren, Lettie, Eleanora, Kahlil, and Kyrie; and sister, Flo Manuel.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Danius and Pearl Fusilier Ardoin; wife, Gloria Ardoin; son, Karl “T-Will Ardoin; daughter, Carmen Manuel; and grandson Kyle Ardoin

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 19, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. at Ardoin's Funeral Home in Ville Platte.

Wilbert J Ardoin’s life was a testament of devotion, kindness, and service—a legacy that will endure in the hearts of those who loved him and the community he so passionately served.
