VILLE PLATTE It is with great sorrow that the family of Verna Ortego Reed, 96, announces her passing on December 3, 2012 at Mercy Regional Medical Center in Ville Platte. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1 PM Wednesday, December 5, 2012 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Ville Platte Rite of Committal will follow in the Evangeline Memorial Cemetery with Father Garrett McIntyre officiating the services.
Verna, known to most as Verna O. Hart, was a devoted grandmother, great grandmother, motherinlaw and sister. She leaves behind four loving grandchildren: Maureen Launey, Michael Reed II, Rachel Thomas and Allison Bruchhaus and ten great grandchildren: Seth Launey, Elizabeth Launey, Noah Launey, Morgan Reed, Trey Reed, Zachary Thomas, Abigail Thomas, Robert Aaron Bruchhaus, Sammy Bruchhaus and Victoria Bruchhaus. She will also be missed by her only daughterinlaw, Connie Reed. They were all the light of her life and brought her great happiness and fulfillment. She also leaves behind two sisters, Lena Mae Williams of Ville Platte and Emily Joy Dupre of Dallas, Texas.
She will now be reunited in Heaven with her husband, Gerald Reed, her only son, Michael A. Reed, her seven brothers, Howard Ortego, Edward Ortego, Edgar Ortego, Sylvan Ortego, Rodney Ortego, Allen Ortego, and LeRoy Ortego and one sister, Eva Lou Kubiak. They most certainly await her arrival with joyous hearts and open arms.
At the request of the family, visitation will take place at Ardoins Funeral Home of Ville Platte beginning Tuesday, December 04, 2012 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM and will continue Wednesday, December 05, 2012 from 8:00 AM until the time of the service. A Rosary will be recited in her honor at 9:00 AM Wednesday morning.
