Ville Platte - Funeral services will be held at an 1:00 PM Mass of Christian Burial at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Pine Prairie on Saturday, February 29, 2020 for Verla Mae Guillory, 89, who passed away on Thursday, February 27, 2020 in Ville Platte surrounded by her love ones.
Father Kenneth Mayne will be celebrant of the Mass and will conduct funeral services.
Entombment will take place in the St. Peter’s Cemetery in Pine Prairie.
Verla Mae Guillory was born in Pine Prairie, Louisiana on July 17, 1930 to Onezime Fontenot and Alma Guillory. She was a hard-working woman who ran her store Guillory Grocery in Pine Prairie with her husband. Verla enjoyed shopping for clothes and making trips to the Casinos.
She is survived by her son, Michael Guillory and wife, Dorothy Guillory of Ville Platte; grandson, Toby Guillory and wife, Amy Guillory and granddaughter, Carissa Guillory; and seven great grandchildren, Logan Guillory, Alayna Guillory, Holden Manuel, Brenden Manuel, Lauren Manuel, Taylor Guillory, and Noah Godeaux.
Verla is preceded in death by her parents, Onezime Fontenot and Alma Fontenot; her husband, A.J. Guillory; and two brothers, Nelson Fontenot and Neley Fontenot.
The family requests that visitation be observed at Ardoin’s Funeral Home in Ville Platte on Saturday, February 29, 200 from 9:00 AM until 12:30 PM. A rosary will be recited at 11:00 AM and will be led by Deacon Ben Soileau. Family and friends may leave condolences for the family at www.ardoinfuneralhomes.com.
