Fontenot
Jun 9, 1939 — Jun 29, 2026
Turling B Fontenot, born on June 9, 1939, in Ville Platte, passed away peacefully on June 29, 2026, at Oaklane Nursing Home. Turling's life was characterized by steadfast dedication, humility, and a quiet strength that left a lasting impression on all who knew him.
Turling spent most of his working years as a mechanic, first with F & Hollier and later with John Deere. His skill and diligence made him a highly valued employee and a trusted friend to colleagues and clients alike. He took great pride in his craft, approaching every challenge with patience and meticulous care.
Beyond his work, Turling found immense joy in the simple delights of life. He was an avid gardener, nurturing plants with the same gentle attention he gave to those around him. A love for the outdoors ran deep in him; he could often be found fishing or hunting. Alongside his beloved wife, Lima, Turling cherished raising animals, a testament to their shared devotion to both each other and the life they built together.
Music was another of Turling's abiding passions. A lover of French music, he not only appreciated its rich melodies but also took pleasure in trying to learn and play music himself. Cooking brought him happiness as well, and many fond memories were made around the meals he lovingly prepared.
Turling's gentle and reserved personality was known to those closest to him. He drew people to him by virtue of his quiet wisdom, unassuming nature, and enduring loyalty.
Turling is survived by his devoted wife of 66 years, Lima Fontenot; his son, Randal John Fontenot (Liz Manuel); daughters, Lisa Johnson (Scott), Cindy Tate (Tim), and Karen Marshall (John). He leaves behind cherished memories in the hearts of each of these loved ones.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Amalca and Olive Fontenot; his brothers Jimmy, Herlin, Raymond, Donald, and Steve Fontenot; his son-in-law, Douglas Aymond; his daughter-in-law, Donna Fontenot; and his sister, Helen Soileau.
The memory of Turling B Fontenot endures in the lives of those he touched through his work, his passions, and, most especially, his family. His legacy is marked by love, hard work, and a quiet grace that will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by all who knew him.
The family would like to thank the staff at Oaklane Nursing Home for taking such good care of Mr. Turling during his stay.
