Sherry Cary Bergeron

July 27, 1942 — January 10, 2024

Sherry Cary Bergeron, the owner and manager of Cary's Sporting Goods for many years, has passed away on Wednesday, January 10, 2024, in her hometown of Ville Platte, Louisiana. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church on Saturday, January 13, 2024, at 10:00 AM.  A burial will follow in the Evangeline Memorial Park Cemetery.

Sherry was born on Monday, July 27, 1942, to the late Claney J. and Isabelle Ortego Veillon.  Sherry was a remarkable individual who touched the lives of many through her dedication and kind-hearted nature. She will be remembered for her sweet generosity, loving spirit, and infectious smile that would brighten everyone's day. Sherry had a passion for life and lived it to the fullest.

Throughout her career as the owner and manager of Cary's Sporting Goods, Sherry played an integral role in serving her community. Her commitment to providing quality products and exceptional customer service made her store a cherished establishment among locals and visitors alike.

Outside of work, Sherry found joy in various hobbies and interests. She enjoyed fishing and duck hunting with her beloved husband, tending to her garden with love and care, and regularly attending monthly supper clubs with her "Glory Girls."

One of Sherry's proudest accomplishments was her volunteer work as a Pink Lady at Mercy Regional Hospital. Her selflessness and dedication to serving those in need earned her immense respect from others.

Sherry is survived by her loving family, including her husband, Evans Bergeron and children: Mark Cary, Neil Cary, Ju'le Dartez, and Laurie LeJeune. Her memory will also be cherished by her seven grandchildren, Sydney Jarrell, Jason Cary, Elyse Cary, Zachary Dartez, Ethan Dartez, Ava LeJeune, and Allie LeJeune; great-grandchild, Ellis Jarrell; brother, Donald Veillon and sister-in-law, Tressie Veillon.

Sherry is preceded in death by her parents and the father of her children, Ellis Cary.

In honor of Sherry's life and contributions to her community and loved ones, a gathering of family and friends will take place on Friday, January 12, 2024, from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM and again on Saturday, January 13, 2024 beginning at 8:00 AM until dismissal at 9:30 AM, A rosary will be recited Friday evening at 6:00 PM.

Sherry Cary Bergeron's kind heart, contagious smile, and dedication to others will forever be remembered. Her legacy of love and generosity will continue to inspire all who knew her. May she rest in eternal peace.
