VILLE PLATTE It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that the family of Robert Glen Soileau, Sr., 70, announces his passing on Thursday, January 30, 2014 at Rapides Regional Medical Center of Alexandria. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1:00 PM, Saturday, February 1, 2014 at Our Lady Queen of All Saints Catholic Church of Ville Platte Rite of Committal will follow in the Gates of Heaven Mausoleum. Father Mitchell Guidry will act as Celebrant for all services.
A loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather, Bob leaves behind his devoted wife of fifty years, Shirley Fontenot Soileau of Belair Cove and his beloved children: Amanda Soileau Vidrine and her husband, John of Tate Cove, Angie Soileau of Belair Cove, Anita Soileau Vidrine and her husband, Paul, also of Belair Cove and Robert Glen Soileau, Jr. and his wife, Melanie, also of Tate Cove. His memory will be forever cherished by his grandchildren: Michael Mikey Wade Deville, Jr. and his fiance, Sarah Jessie Vervalin, Cody Lane Deville, Nathan John Vidrine, Justin Cole Vidrine, Elizabeth Claire Vidrine and Sydney Anne Vidrine Robert was blessed with one great grandchild, Layton Blair Deville. Bob will be deeply missed by his half brother Floyd Soileau of Ville Platte.
Bob supported his family by working tirelessly for over thirty five years as an employee of Union National Insurance. He was a true outdoorsman he enjoyed passing his time caring for his horses and cattle and he was an accomplished welder also, but his true passion was his wife, children and grandchildren.
At the request of the Soileau family, visitation will be held Ardoins Funeral Home of Ville Platte beginning at 2:00 PM Friday, January 31, 2014 and will continue until the time of the service Saturday. A Rosary will be recited, in his honor, Friday evening at 6:00 PM.
