Ville Platte A father, grandfather and friend, Robert Smith will be missed by all who knew and loved him. Robert died peacefully on Thursday, October 26, 2012 at the St. Landry Extended Care Center. He was 71. Chapel Services will be held at the Ardoin Funeral Home Chapel in Ville Platte on Saturday, October 27, 2012 at 12:00 pm, with Brother David Smith officiating. Burial will follow in the Old Ville Platte cemetery.
Robert leaves behind a loving and grateful family including his loving mother, Hazel Smith of Bastrop two daughters, Brenda Hale and husband, Donald of Bastrop and Connie Smith of Opelousas two sisters, Virginia Book and husband Richard and Shirley Smith, all of Bastrop his eight grandchildren, Marie Johnson and husband Joe of Mamou, Elizabeth Smith of Opelousas, Samantha Harris and husband Henry of Bastrop, Barbara George of Opelousas, and step granddaughter, Erica Hale of Bastrop, Joey Fontenot and wife Victoria of Bastrop, Eric Fontenot of Bastrop, Mark Fontenot of Bastrop, Robert George III of Opelousas, and one step grandson Christopher Hale of Bastrop twelve great grandchildren , Shellie and Anna Smith, Dylan and Tristan Fontenot, Tyler, Gavin, and Zackery Fontenot, Drake, Kayden, Xavier Harris, Kalob and Jessie Johnson. He is preceded in death by his wife, Mary Bernita Smith and his father Robert Smith, one son Joseph Carry Smith. The family requests that visitation take place on Saturday from 8:00 am until time of Services at Ardoin Funeral Home inVille Platte.
