VILLE PLATTE It is with immense sadness that the family of Octavia Boudreaux, 77, announces her passing on Saturday, February 22, 2014 in Gulfport, Mississippi. She was surrounded by members of her beloved family when she left this world to join her Savior in the next. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 AM Wednesday, February 26, 2014 at The Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church of Ville Platte Rite of Committal will follow in the Bellevue Memorial Park Cemetery of Opelousas, with Father Brian Harrington as Celebrant.
A devoted mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, Octavia leaves behind her precious children: Craig Boudreaux and his wife, Julie of Metaire, Arlene Rich and her husband, Michael of Portland, Oregon, Sharon Jones and her husband, Joseph, Carmen Urbina and her companion, Pete and Carol Kennedy and her husband, Doug all of Gulfport, MS. She was blessed with eight grandchildren and further blessed with six great grandchildren they were her greatest joy and she never missed an opportunity to boast about them. Also left behind, her siblings: James Dupre and his wife, Beulah of Ville Platte, Alvin Dupre and his wife, Sara of Opelousas, Steve Dupre and Winton Dupre, both of Lacombe, Betty Fontenot of French Settlement, Georganna Bellow and her husband, Tom of Opelousas, Ruth Bernard and her husband, Bill of New Iberia and Jenny Gorecki of Franklinton. Octavia devoted her life to the care and well being of her family but she was also a dear friend to many. Her sweet disposition and gracious smile will forever be cherished by all who were lucky enough to have crossed paths with her on her journey through this life.
Octavia was born in Plaisance, Louisiana on July 27, 1936 to George Allen and Rosa Lee Gay Dupre. After many years of residing in the area, she set out on another chapter of her life and relocated to the Mississippi Gulf Coast, where she spent the last twenty two years of her life surrounded by her family. Mrs. Boudreaux was a member of St. James Catholic Church and attended Family Worship Center with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She will now reunite in Heaven with her parents, George Allen and Rosa Lee Gay Dupre and her brother, Roy Dupre. They surely await her arrival with open arms and joyous hearts.
At the request of the family, visitation will take place at Ardoins Funeral Home of Ville Platte beginning at 5:00 PM Tuesday, February 25, 2014 and will continue until 10:00 PM that evening and resume at 8:00 AM Wednesday and continue until the time of the service. A Rosary will be recited in her honor at 7:00 PM Tuesday evening.
