Ville Platte It is with great sadness that the family of Nancy Ann Hewitt Sylvester, 73, announces her passing on Wednesday, December 19, 2012 at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Lafayette. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30 AM Friday, December 21, 2012 at The Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church in Ville Platte with Rite Committal to follow in the Gates of Heaven Cemetery. Fr. Thomas Voorhies will be officiating the services.
A devoted mother, grandmother and sister, Nancy is survived by her only daughter, Beth Christ and her husband, Ronald of Eunice. She will be mourned by her six siblings: Tommy Hewitt and his wife, Linda of North Carolina, Billy Hewitt and his wife Sheyrl of Oklahoma, Fred Hewitt and his wife, Penny of Dallas, Texas, June Hewitt Cameron and her husband, Jim of Hattiesburg, Ms., Patsy Hewitt Cline and her husband, Bruce of North Carolina and Kathy Hewitt Blevins of San Antonia, Tx. Her memory will most certainly be cherished by her three grandchildren, Justin Christ and his wife, Amy, Rusty Christ and his wife, Layna and Lauren Sylvester and her four great grandchildren, Eva Christ, Jackson Christ, Caroline Christ and Maria Christ they were truly the light of her life. Nancy served as an educator for over twenty years, influencing hundreds of lives with her kind words and heart felt concern, she will be remembered fondly by many of her former students.
She will now reunite in Heaven with her beloved son, Johnny Sylvester and her parents, Thomas and Ellenor Hewitt. They await her arrival with open arms and joyous hearts.
At the request of the family, visitation will be held at Ardoins Funeral Home of Ville Platte beginning Thursday, December 20,
2012 at 11:00 AM and will continue until 9:00 PM that evening and will resume at 8:00 AM Friday and continue until the time of the services. A Rosary will be recited in her honor at 6:00 PM Thursday evening.
