Mary Ann Jenkins, a dedicated and beloved wife, mother and grandmother, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 28, 2024, surrounded by her beloved family at the age of 81. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, August 1, 2024 at Our Lady Queen of All Saints Catholic Church at 2:00 pm. Burial will follow at Gates of Heaven Cemetery.
Born and raised in Ville Platte, LA on November 3, 1942, Mary Ann dedicated 30 years of her life to serving Ville Platte City Hall as the manager of the Utility Department. Her commitment and passion for her work left a lasting impact on all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
Mary Ann was a woman of many talents and passions. graduated from Ville Platte High School in 1960 and went on to build a remarkable career while nurturing her love for scrapbooking in her free time. Beyond her professional and personal interests, Mary Ann found joy in traveling to various religious sites with her beloved husband, Roy Jenkins. Their adventures together created cherished memories that will be forever treasured.
Known for her warm and kind-hearted nature, Mary Ann's family always came first. She never missed a family function and wholeheartedly loved those closest to her. Her dedication extended beyond her immediate family as she proudly held the esteemed position of Regent with the Catholic Daughters and was a member of the Red Hats Society. Additionally, she selflessly dedicated herself to serving as a Eucharistic Minister and even took on the role of Den Mother to the Club Scouts, exemplifying her generous spirit.
Mary Ann is survived by her loving husband of 61 years, Roy Jenkins, who stood by her side through thick and thin. She will be deeply missed by her sons Mark and wife Mitzi of Ville Platte, Craig Jenkins of Grand Prairie, as well as a host of grandchildren including Coree Carter, Brendan Jenkins, Lindsey Ingle, Jacob LeBas, Emily Ortego; and great-grandchildren Damien, Leanna, Corbyn, Gatlin, Braylee, Wyatt, Noah, Atty Mae, Teche, Rhemy, Odette, Marie Louise. Her memory will also be cherished by her brother Gurvis O'Conner and wife Shirlene; sister Helen Milligan; brother-in-law, Paul and sister-in-law Natalie Jenkins.
She is preceded in death by her parents, William O’Conner and Elma Vidrine O’Conner and her granddaughter, Amber Lynn Borel.
To honor Mary Ann's life and legacy, visitation services will be held at Ardoin's Funeral Home of Ville Platte on Wednesday, July 31, 2024, from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM with a Rosary being prayed at 5:00 PM. Visitation will resume on Thursday, August 1, 2024, from 9:00 AM until the time of service.
