Mary Fontenot

VILLE PLATTE - A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Mary A. Thompson Fontenot at 1:00 PM on Monday, April 3, 2023, at Our Lady Queen of All Saints Catholic Church in Ville Platte followed by entombment at Evangeline Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. Mary passed away on Thursday, March 30, 2023, at Mercy Regional Medical Center. She was born on September 30, 1940, in Ville Platte to the late Evabe and Eva Thompson. Mary worked in health care for many years as a Dietary Manager at Heritage Manor Nursing Home. She had several hobbies which she loved including quilting, sewing, crocheting, and working in her flower beds, but her passion was genealogy. Mary also enjoyed listening to Tasse de Café, as well as listening to and dancing to French and Swamp Pop Music.

She is survived by sons, Brent Fontenot (Carlene) of West Lake, Henry Fontenot (Kelly) of Ville Platte and Luke Fontenot of Ville Platte; daughters, Debbie Charlie (Craig) of Ville Platte, Susan Ortego (James) of Ville Platte, and Judi Marcantel (Brandon ) of Ville Platte; grandchildren, Deidre Romero, Shane Fontenot, Nicole Martin, Tyler Fontenot, Brianne Fontenot, Jonathon Sparks, Rebecca Fontenot, Jade Parker, Bryan Ardoin, Christopher Fontenot, Brandon Fontenot, Hailey Marcantel, Isabella Marcantel, and Lily Marcantel. Mary also had ten great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Evabe and Eva Thompson.

A Rosary will be recited at 12:30 pm at Queen of All Saints Church
