Mrs. Baquet lived a life marked by dedication, accomplishment, and deep devotion to those she loved. She was a graduate of Sacred Heart High School, where she earned the distinction of salutatorian for the Class of 1959. During her school years, she also enjoyed athletics and played basketball in high school; in her senior year, her team advanced to state. She also enjoyed tennis, carrying with her an appreciation for activity, competition, and fellowship.

Professionally, Margie gave 40 years of service to Evangeline Bank as a Vice President, Assistant Cashier, and Secretary to the Board of Directors. Her long career reflected steadiness, commitment, and pride in her work, and she will be remembered for the faithfulness she brought to those years.

At home, Margie found great joy in caring for the people closest to her. She liked to cook and entertain family, creating occasions that brought loved ones together and made lasting memories around her table. Her warmth and hospitality were an important part of her life and will remain a cherished part of how she is remembered.

She is survived by her sons, George E. Baquet III (Sarah) and Mike Baquet (Monica); her grandsons, Paul Baquet, Matthew Baquet (Kristin), Brandon Baquet (Hannah), and Benjamin Baquet; and her great-grandchildren, Emma, Sophie, Jacques, Elodie, Blaine, and Aaron. She was preceded in death by her husband, George Baquet Jr. ; her son, John Baquet; and her parents, Larry and Regina Lemoine.

At the family's request, a visitation will begin Sunday, August 30, 2026, at 1 PM at Ardoin's Funeral Home in Ville Platte until 8 PM. A rosary will be prayed at 5:30 PM by Deacon Ben Soileau. The family invites everyone to attend the Mass on Monday, with burial to follow at Gates of Heaven Cemetery.

Margie Lemoine Baquet will be remembered with love for her strength, her loyalty to family, her years of hard work, and the welcoming spirit she shared so generously with others. Her memory will continue to live on in the family she loved so well.
