Mack Wallace Blood, a resident of Heritage Manor Nursing Home in Ville Platte, earned his wings and met Jesus on Sunday, February 4, 2024 at the age of 81.   He was born on Sunday, February 15, 1942, to Charles Blood and Julia Carpenter in Evangeline Parish where he grew up on the banks of Bayou Cocodrie.  Mack was a man of integrity and generosity.  He had great compassion for others and unwavering love for his family.

Mack left his humble upbringings and enlisted in the United States Air Force.  He proudly served his country for over 20 years, earned the rank of E-8 (Master Sergeant), and was a veteran of the Vietnam War. His commitment to serving his country was a testament to his patriotism and love for his fellow Americans.

Following his military service, Mack pursued a career as a repairman, specializing in air conditioning and refrigeration. He attended vocational school and completed a comprehensive course in this field. His expertise and attention to detail made him highly sought after by his clients in Evangeline Parish.

Outside of work, Mack had a passion for fishing. He often found solace and joy in spending time on the water, surrounded by nature. It was during these moments that he could truly relax and appreciate the beauty of the world around him.

Mack's greatest joy in life came from raising his family with Sharon Rose Blood, who he was previously married to for 45 years.  His most treasured accomplishment was that of being a loving father to his two sons, Jackie Blood of Livingston, Texas and Tommie Blood of Carthage, Texas. He cherished every moment he spent with them and took pride in guiding them through life's challenges with wisdom and love.  Mack cherished his role as a grandfather. He leaves behind four grandchildren: Chelsie Elizabeth, Haley Danielle, Madison Claire, and Toby Wade. Their presence brought immense joy into his life.  Mack's legacy will live on through his five great-grandchildren who adored them dearly. His impact on their lives will forever remain in their hearts.  He was also a beloved brother to Jannell Hoyt. Their bond as siblings was unbreakable, offering them support and companionship throughout their lives.
