VILLE PLATTE It is with the heaviest of hearts that the family of Lura Fusilier Shuff, 91, announces her passing from this world to be with her Savior in Heaven. Lura passed away peacefully, Monday, December 15, 2014 at her residence in Lafayette. Her life will be celebrated during a Mass of Christian Burial at 2:00 PM Wednesday, December 17, 2014 at The Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church of Ville Platte with Rite of Committal to follow in The Sacred Heart Mausoleum. Father Brian Harrington will officiate the services.

Lura was a dedicated employee at Ville Platte City Hall for many years but seeing to the well being of her beloved family was always her greatest passion in life. Precious memories will forever remain in the hearts of her beloved daughters and step daughter: Betty Foret of Lafayette, Cheryl Soileau and her husband, Glenn of Breaux Bridge, Vickie Couvillion and her husband, Roy, also of Lafayette and Eleanor Hartlage and her husband, Fred of Florida. Lura was blessed with ten adoring grandchildren: John Foret, Eddie Foret, Jacques Soileau, Jean Soileau, Niki Beeson, Jessica Reeves, Emily Henry, Lori Cochran, Erin Couvillion and Adrienne Barnhill she was further blessed with sixteen great grandchildren. They were the absolute light of her life and she never let an opportunity to share stories about their accomplishments pass her by.

She will now rest in Heaven with her beloved husbands, Oscar Roberie, Warren Reed and Dudley Shuff, her parents, Martel Joseph and Ellen Soileau Fusilier, her two siblings, Alvin Fusilier and Verna Martin and a son in law, Burvick Foret. Their reunion will surely be a joyous occasion.

At the request of the family, visitation will be held at Ardoins Funeral Home of Ville Platte beginning at 5:00 PM Tuesday, December 16, 2014 and will continue until 9:00 PM that evening and will resume at 8:00 AM Wednesday morning and continue until the time of the Burial Mass. A Rosary will be recited in her name Tuesday evening at 7:00 PM.
