Lucille Martinez, beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on July 12, 2026, at Mercy Regional Medical Center, surrounded by loved ones. Born on January 24, 1936, in Covington, Louisiana, Lucille touched countless lives with her warmth, kindness, and vibrant spirit throughout her ninety years.
Lucille was the cherished daughter of Mack and Eva Loid, both of whom preceded her in death. She was also preceded by her devoted husband, Henry Martinez, with whom she shared a lifetime of memories and dedication to their family.
Lucille will be remembered most dearly by her children, David Martinez and Judy Ortego (Glen), who carry forward her legacy of love and strength. Her presence was a guiding light in the lives of her six grandchildren: Willie Desormeaux, Annette Guillory, Michael Lacroix, Rose Vidrine, Kimberly Lacroix, and Zachary Martinez; her fourteen great-grandchildren; thirty-one great-great-grandchildren; and three great-great-great-grandchildren. Lucille’s love for her family knew no bounds, and her home was always open, filled with laughter, delicious aromas, and the warmth only she could provide.
Lucille found immense joy in dancing, relishing fun moments with loved ones, and was very fond of birds. An excellent cook, Lucille was renowned for her gumbo, often sharing her culinary creations with friends and family. She also took pleasure in shopping and traveling, always eager for new experiences and adventures.
Above all, Lucille’s love for her family remained steadfast throughout her life. Her generosity, affectionate spirit, and unyielding support shaped those who were fortunate enough to know her, leaving memories that will be cherished forever.
As we say goodbye, we remember Lucille Martinez as someone who embraced life fully, loved deeply, and leaves behind a legacy of compassion, spirited joy, and unwavering devotion to her family. She will be deeply missed, yet the impact of her kindness and love will endure in the hearts of all who knew her.
