VILLE PLATTE It is with the heaviest of hearts that the family of Lena Marie Franks, 75, announces her departure from this world to join her Savior in the next. She passed away peacefully Tuesday, January 7, 2014 at Savoy Medical Center of Mamou. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM Wednesday, January 8, 2014 at The Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church of Ville Platte with Rite of Committal to follow in the Sacred Heart Mausoleum. Father Brian Harrington will act as Celebrant for all services with Father Richard Vidrine as CoCelebrant.
A devoted mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend, Lena will be deeply missed by her five children: Paul Franks of Ville Platte, Allen Franks and his wife, Nancy of Opelousas, Claudia Ortego and her husband, Dwight, Freida Cantu and her husband Dr. Nick and Virginia Comeaux and her husband, Duane all of Ville Platte. Lena was blessed with twelve grandchildren: Robyn Duos, Philip Ortego, Samuel Franks, Kinzey Franks, Logan Franks, Lori Wiles, Nico Cantu, Garret Cantu, Caroline Franks, Benjamin Franks, Justin Comeaux and Allison Comeaux. She was further blessed with four great grandchildren: Ashton Duos, Emily Duos, Reece Dardar and Gabrielle Cormier they were truly the light of her life.
She began her career working in the many different aspects of the business world including working side by side with her husband, Don as the coowners of The Bargain Mart. She also accomplished her goal of obtaining her real estate license. Lena was a homemaker later in her life, always devoting herself to the care and happiness of her beloved mother and family.
She will now reunite in Heaven with the love of her life, the father of her children, her husband, Don G. Franks, her parents, Eldridge and Christine Vidrine Landreneau and a sister, Joyce Vidrine. They surely await her arrival with open arms and joyous hearts.
At the request of the Franks family, visitation will take place at Ardoins Funeral Home of Ville Platte beginning at 5:00 PM Tuesday, January 7, 2014 and will continue until 10:00 PM that evening. Visitation will resume at 8:00 AM Wednesday morning and go on until the time of the service. A Rosary will be recited in her honor at 7:00 PM Tuesday evening.
