VILLE PLATTE It is with the heaviest of hearts that the family of Landris John Bud Roberie, 85, announces his passing on Monday, May 5, 2014 at Prairie Manor Nursing Home in Pine Prairie. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 2:00 PM Wednesday, May 7, 2014 at The Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church of Ville Platte. Rite of Committal will follow in the Evangeline Memorial Cemetery with Fr. Richard Vidrine officiating.
Landris served his country with great honor and pride as a soldier in the U. S. Army during the Korean War. As a devoted family man, he worked tirelessly to support his beloved family, working for many years as a maintenance specialist for CLECO. His legacy will be carried on by his son, Sidney Roberie and his wife Rachel of Ville Platte and his two precious grandchildren: Toby Lane Roberie and his wife, Rosanna of Houma and Jacob Scott Roberie of Baton Rouge. He will be sadly missed by his three sisters: Runie Thibodeaux of Ville Platte, Lou Ellen Pitre and her husband, Howard, also of Ville Platte and Geneva Brignac and her husband, Louis of Schriever.
He will now reunite in Heaven with his beloved wife, Gladys Peatie Howerton Roberie, his parents, Mayo and Hester Fontenot Roberie and a brother, Ray Roberie. They surely await his arrival with open arms and joyous hearts.
At the request of the family, visitation will be held at Ardoins Funeral Home of Ville Platte beginning at 6:00 PM Tuesday, May 6, 2014 and will continue until 10:00 PM that evening and again at 8:00 AM Wednesday morning and will continue until the time of the services. A Rosary will be recited in his honor at 7:00 PM Tuesday evening.
