It is with great sadness that the family of Francis "Kent" Vidrine, a cherished father, grandfather, brother and friend, announces his passing on Friday, September 12, 2025, surrounded by his beloved family, at the age of 75. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Our Lady Queen of All Saints Catholic Church on Tuesday, September 16, 2025, at 12:00 pm with Father Stephen Pellessier as Mass Celebrant.
Kent lived a life rich in love, laughter, and service to his community. He dedicated his career to law enforcement, starting at the Ville Platte Police Department and ultimately serving with honor at the Evangeline Parish Sheriff's Office until his retirement. Known for his unwavering commitment to protecting and serving, Kent was not just a sheriff's deputy; he was a friend to many and a beacon of kindness in Ville Platte.
Outside of his professional life, Kent cherished time spent in nature, often found sitting on his front porch while listening to Swamp Pop music, and indulging in his passion for hunting.
He cherished his family, leaving behind four adoring daughters: Brook Bourque (Randy),Bridgette Vidrine, Tammy Naquin (Chris), and Maranda Vidrine (Brian), who will forever carry his legacy in their hearts; 13 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; and his brother, Steve Vidrine (Sandy).
Kent was proceeded in death by his beloved wife, Barbara Vidrine; his son, Brian Vidrine; his parents, T.H. and Jane Vidrine; his granddaughter, Darian Vidrine, son-in-law, Richard Brunet, Jr.; and two great grandchildren, Lilli Ann Thrasher and Sam Cruz.
A visitation will be held at Ardoin’s Funeral Home of Ville Platte on Tuesday, September 16, 2025, opening at 9:00 am, leading into a Rosary prayer at 11:15 am.
