Obituary

On June 21st, 2026, Judy Guillory was called home to Our Lord. She was born Judy Fontenot on September 11, 1951, in Ville Platte and grew up in “Haute” Chataignier, the daughter of Roy Fontenot and the former Joyce Fusilier. She attended school at Chataigner High school where she met the love of her life, Jerry Guillory. They were married August 29, 1970, and a year later brought into the world their first son, Jason Guillory. 10 years later, their second son, Joey, was born. With the exception a brief period, she was a lifelong resident of the Point Blue area. She was a loving mother and a friend to anyone who would talk to her for more than 5 minutes. Many described her as the “life of the party”. She rarely met a stranger, often spending more time in a grocery store chit chatting than her boys could stand. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:00 AM on Thursday, June 25, 2026, at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church officiated by Father Blaine Clement followed by burial at Mt. Carmel Cemetery.

Early in her adult life, she spent time working with the Head Start program then the Evangeline Parish Sheriff’s Office where she made many lifelong friends. Later in life, she worked for the JPTA/Acadiana works program where she had a lasting impact on many, assisting them with vocational training. After retirement, she enjoyed spending time visiting her children and grandchildren, gossiping extensively over the phone, and getting reacquainted with lifelong friends from high school and life. She also loved giving back as a Hospice Volunteer. She even spent time as a sitter with the elderly. Her compassion for others knew no end. She often did without during her life so that her children wouldn’t have to, never complaining. She was known to enjoy cold beer, a good pour of Evan Williams, or a margarita from one of her favorite Mexican restaurants, especially when surrounded by her friends.

Left behind to cherish her memory are her two “boys” as she affectionately referred to them: Jason Guillory (Angie) of Eunice and Joey Guillory (Robyn) of Youngsville. 4 grandchildren: Logan Pickett, Zachery Guillory, Reagan Guillory, and Maddox Guillory. She also had 2 great-grandchildren Maria and Henry Pickett. She is also survived by her sister, Belinda Deshotel, of Eunice, her sister-in-law Jalyne Duprè (Dale) of Lafayette as well as several nieces and nephews. She was also blessed to have a “third son” which she proudly claimed, her next-door neighbor Daniel Thibodeaux along with his beautiful family whom we could never thank enough for the loving care and laughter they provided her with over the years.

Today we rejoice as she is finally reunited with the ones she loved who went before her including her husband Jerry, her mother and father, as well as countless other friends and family who welcome her into Heaven to spend eternity together. We hope Heaven is ready for her and her endless jokes.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 - 8:00 PM on Wednesday, June 24, 2026, at Ardoin's Funeral Home of Ville Platte. A Rosary will be recited at 6:00 PM led by Father Blaine Clement. Visitation will resume at 8:00 AM until the time of service on Thursday, June 25, 2026, at Ardoin's Funeral Home.

The family would like to acknowledge the exemplary care provided for her by her in-home sitters, the team at Louisiana Hospice & Palliative Care and especially the amazing staff of Eunice Manor Nursing home who treated her with such dignity and respect.
