VILLE PLATTE - A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Joyce Brown Manuel at 11:00 AM on Thursday, August 11, 2022, at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church in Ville Platte, La.  Burial will take place at Evangeline Memorial Park Cemetery.  Father Tom Voorhies will be celebrant of the mass and conduct funeral services.

Joyce Brown Manuel, 74, passed away peacefully on Monday, August 8, 2022, surrounded by her loving family. Joyce was born on December 11, 1947, in Ville Platte, LA to Joseph Arise & Nathalie “Tilly” Guillory Brown. Joyce lived a life of service, whether she was volunteering at Camp Bluebird of Acadiana, the Special Olympics, or caring for the elderly, she was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone who needed.  She was a compassionate, loving, and caring wife, mother, and grandmother and adored her grandchildren and greatgrandchildren.  Joyce enjoyed spending time outdoors raising her chickens and gardening.  She loved sharing her eggs and canned vegetables and fruit with her family and friends.  Joyce will be missed dearly by all who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her daughters, Patty M. Soileau and husband, Keven of Grand Prairie, Polly Manuel of Ville Platte, and June M. Soileau and husband, Shawn of Grand Prairie; sons, Scott Manuel and wife, Anita of Ville Platte and Keith Manuel of Grand Prairie; grandchildren, Travis Soileau and wife, Erin, Bethany Fulford and husband, Christopher, Kayra Sylvester and husband, Jordan, Sage Manuel and wife, Kelsey, Michael Manuel and wife, Kayla, Jacob Soileau and wife, Abbie, Samuel Manuel, Jennifer Manuel, Shelby Manuel, and Brody Soileau; and great grandchildren, Levi Soileau, Aubree Soileau, Waylon Soileau, Rylee Sylvester, Harley Sylvester, Maxwell Fulford, and Nina Fulford.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Roland Manuel; granddaughter, Sidney Gail Manuel; and parents, Joseph Arise and Nathalie “Tilly” Guillory Brown.

Visitation will be held at Ardoin’s Funeral Home of Ville Platte on Wednesday, August 10, 2022, from 11:00 AM until 9:00 PM.  A rosary be prayed at 7:00 PM.  Visitation will resume on Thursday, August 11, 2022, from 8:00 AM until time of service.
