VILLE PLATTE – Funeral services will be held at a 11:00 AM Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady Queen of All Saints Catholic Church in Ville Platte on Saturday, December 7, 2019 for Joseph Picard, 72, who passed away on December 5, 2019 in Alexandria, LA surrounded by his loved ones.
Father Mitch Guidry, Pastor of Our Lady Queen of All Saints Catholic Church, will be celebrant of the mass and conduct funeral services.
Burial will take place in Ferguson Cemetery.
Joseph Picard was born on September 18, 1947 in Baton Rouge, LA to Rodney and Lila Mae Briley Picard. Joseph worked as a floor mechanic for many years. He was blessed with a green thumb and had a marvelous vegetable garden. Joseph loved spending time outdoors bar-b-queing for his family, hunting, and fishing. Some of his fondest memories were of the times he spent at the Locks in Simmesport catching lots of fish. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother. He leaves his family and friends with many cherished memories.
He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Patricia Picard; three daughters, Karen Hebert and husband Weldon Blaine of St. Landry, Amy Beaubouef and husband Jeffrey of Denham Springs, and Wendy Fontenot and husband Barry of Point Blue; grandchildren, Derek Fontenot and wife Lauren Blair Fontenot, Colin Fontenot, Kirsten Dupre, Katherine Dupre, Sadie Fontenot, Halie Fontenot, and Katelyn Fontenot.; sisters, Betty West of Oakdale and Mary Picard of Mamou; and brother, Jimmy Picard and wife Sue of Grand Prairie.
He is preceded in death by his parents; Rodney and Lila Mae Briley Picard; sister, Myra Picard; and brother, Billy Picard.
The family requests that visitation be observed at Ardoin's Funeral Home of Ville Platte on Friday, December 6, 2019 from 3:00 PM until 10:00 PM. A rosary will be recited by Deacon Gene LeBouef at 6:30 PM on Friday. Visitation will resume on Saturday, December 7, 2019 from 8:00 AM until time of service.
