VILLE PLATTE – Funeral Services will be held at a 11:00 AM Mass of Christian Burial, at Our Lady Queen of All Saints Catholic Church in Ville Platte, on Saturday, May 29, 2021 for Joseph Merryl Fontenot 71, who passed away on Monday, May 24, 2021.

Father Tom Voorhies, pastor at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, will be celebrant of the mass and conduct services.

Burial will take place at St. Andrew’s Cemetery in Plaisance, LA.

Joseph Merryl Fontenot was born on May 6, 1950 to John Davis and Gladys Deville Fontenot.  He was an auto mechanic who enjoyed hunting, fishing, carpenter work and cooking.  His family will miss him dearly.

He is survived by his three sisters, Novella Fontenot Jones and husband, Charles Ray of Grand Prairie, Lucy Fontenot Perry and husband, Dale of Grand Prairie, and Beryl Fontenot Bergeron and husband, Rodney of Prairie Ronde; sisters-in-law, Linda G Fontenot of Ville Platte and Pamala Champagne and husband, Gary Vidrine of Grand Prairie; two nieces; and eleven nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, John Davis and Gladys Deville Fontenot; his wife, Connie Fontenot; sister, Berna Fontenot Soileau; and two brothers, John Winton Fontenot and John Dave Fontenot, Jr.

At the request of the family, visitation will take place at Ardoin’s Funeral Home in Ville Platte on Friday, May 28, 2021 from 12:00 PM until 9:00 PM. A rosary will be recited at 6:00 PM on Friday.  Visitation will resume on Saturday, May 29, 2021 from 8:00 AM until 10:30 AM.
