Joseph William Anderson, a dedicated oilfield worker and loving family man, passed away on Sunday, February 8, 2026, in Bayou Chicot at the age of 73. Born on Saturday, August 23, 1952 in Oakdale, Louisiana, Joseph led a life marked by hard work and commitment to his family, values he held dear throughout his years.

Joseph served with honor in the United States Army during the Vietnam War, which underscored his commitment to service and sacrifice. His military experience instilled in him a sense of discipline and resilience that he carried throughout his life. After serving in the military, Joseph began his career in the oilfield overseas. He began as a deck hand, and over the course of thirty years, he demonstrated hard work and dedication that ultimately led him to the position of rig manager.

Outside of work, Joseph found great joy in spending time with his family. He cherished the moments spent fishing at Red River and at his camp at Grassy Lake, pursuits that allowed him to connect with nature and enjoy the simple pleasures of life.

Joseph's legacy is one of hard work, love, and steadfast dedication to both his profession and his family. His spirit and passion for life will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of all who knew him.

Joseph is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Carolyn Anderson of Bayou Chicot; two children, Bridget Anderson (Tammy) of Minnetonka, Minnesota and Joseph Cassius Anderson (Charitie) of Bayou Chicot; and brother, Michael Anderson (Connie) of Lumberton, Texas. Also left behind to cherish his memory are his grandchildren, Christian Anderson, Kolby  Anderson, Tavin Lee, and Beau, Maddie, and Chloe Anderson of Bayou Chicot and Camden, Reese, and Sawyer Anderson of Minnetonka and a host of nieces and nephews.

Joseph is preceded in death by his parents, Wilfred and Louise Anderson; brothers, Dale, Charles “Pee Wee” and Robert Anderson; and sister, Carolyn “Sissy” Anderson.

A celebration of Joseph’s life will take place on a later date.
