James Mark "Jimmy" Vidrine Sr., a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and dedicated member of the community peacefully passed away on Saturday, June 7, 2025, at the age of 84. A lifelong resident of Evangeline Parish, Jimmy leaves behind a legacy of kindness, hard work, and an unwavering love for his family. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at Our Lady Queen of All Saints Catholic Church at 10 AM on Monday, June 9, 2025, followed by the burial at Gates of Heaven Cemetery.
For more than six decades, Jimmy was your go-to guy as an independent insurance agent, where he made lasting friendships and positively impacted the lives of so many folks. But it wasn't all work—Jimmy was also a fan of adventure, whether it was hunting, fishing, or spending time on the golf course back in his younger days. His interest in politics showed how much he cared about his community, serving proudly on the Evangeline Parish School Board for ten and a half years.
Family was at the heart of it all for Jimmy. The love he had for his wife, Glenda Vidrine, and their family was plain to see. He will be deeply missed by his loved ones, including his children, Jimbo Vidrine (Brandy Cloud Vidrine), and Monica Vidrine Fontenot (Phillip Fontenot); his bonus children, Chad Ortego (Jada Ortego) and Jeanie Fontenot (Tyrone Fontenot); his brother, Judge John Larry Vidrine; and his wonderful grandchildren, Travis, Alec, Courtney, Jodi; and his bonus grandchildren, Jasmine, Gabby, Noah, Ainslee, and Gracee Fontenot. Also, his great-grandkids, Aiden Paul and Averie James Ducote and bonus great grandchild, Ellie Mizzell, will carry on his spirit.
He is now reunited with his parents, Loris and Ruby Roberie Vidrine, and his brother, Ronald J. Vidrine.
Visitation for Jimmy will begin on Sunday, June 8, 2025, from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM, with a Rosary being prayed in his honor at 6:00 PM by Deacon Tim Donovan. Visitation will resume on Monday, June 9, 2025, from 8:00 AM until the time of the Mass.
Pallbearers will be: Travis Fontenot, Alec Fontenot, Barry Vidrine, Scot Vidrine, Gregory Vidrine and Gerald Clark.
