VILLE PLATTE – A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for James Leonard Ardoin on Saturday, December 30, 2023, at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church in Ville Platte, LA. Father Tom Voorhies will be celebrant of the service. An honorary military graveside service will be held at Te Mamou Cemetery.
James Leonard Ardoin, a beloved father, companion, and cherished member of the Ville Platte community, passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 28, 2023, surrounded by his loving family.
Born on June 27, 1941, in his beloved hometown of Ville Platte. James was a man of genuine warmth, compassion, and well known as the jokester and an all-around “Mr. Fix It”. He began his professional journey at Cabot, where he dedicated his talent and skills for over 40 years until his much-deserved retirement on July 1, 2003. Prior to his vocational endeavors, James proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force for four consecutive years. His commitment to duty and loyalty was unwavering, as was his love for his fellow servicemen and his dear homeland.
James found solace and joy in simple pleasures. He enjoyed cutting grass at home and possessed a natural aptitude for fixing cars, applying his talents to ensure a smooth ride for family and friends. His greatest source of pride, however, was the outdoor kitchen he skillfully built, where he delighted in gathering loved ones, sharing laughter, and creating memories that will be forever etched in their hearts.
James will be deeply missed by his lifelong companion of 41 years, Cecilia R. Morein; his two daughters, Twila and husband, Greg Trahan and Carla Clark; his grandchildren, Lacie, Brock and wife, Nina, Madison, Jared, T.J., and Chandler; great grandchildren, Sandra and Aurora Kitts, Jettsen, Jeremiah and Jolie Trahan, Branson Fontenot, Devin and Bentley Ardoin, Cameron and Caiden Vidrine and Connor; his brothers, Bobby Ardoin, Ronald Ardoin, and Johnny H. Ardoin and a legacy of children that loved him as a father and grandfather, Arnold Morein, Ava Morein, Vanessa Briley and husband, Mike, Chantel Hollier and husband Todd; grandchildren, Megan Knight and husband, Scott, Ian, Devin and Logan Briley, Malina and Owen Hollier and great grandchildren, Evelyn and Tripp Knight.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Curly Ardoin and Velma Nacquin Ardoin and brother, Donald Ardoin.
At the request of the family, Visitation will be held from 8:00 AM until 10:30 AM on Saturday, December 30, 2023, at Ardoin’s Funeral Home of Ville Platte.
