Irene Marie Guillory

VILLE PLATTE – Funeral services will be held for Irene Marie F. Guillory at Ardoin’s Funeral Home in Ville Platte, on Friday, July 28, 2023 at 2:00 PM. Burial will follow in the Platin Cemetery.

Irene passed away on Tuesday, July 25, 2023, at the age of 86. Irene was born on September 20, 1936, in Tate Cove to Ferdinand Fontenot of Tate Cove and Theresa Charlie Fontenot of Bayou Buff, Louisiana. Irene was a life-long resident of Ville Platte. She greatly enjoyed watching television, crocheting, and sewing. She was a fantastic cook who made the best pot roast in town. More than anything, Irene loved her family and her church fellowship. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Irene is survived by her daughters, Brenda Ware of Shreveport and Angelia Kay Bergeron of Morgan City; brother, Nolan Fontenot of Jackson, Louisiana; sisters, Louise Saynes of Baker, Louisiana, Aline Ardoin of Mamou, and Enola Vidrine of Redell; 11 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, and 17 great-great-grandchildren.

Irene is preceded in death by her husband, Efton Guillory; her son, Joseph Farrell Guillory; her parents, Ferdinand Fontenot and Theresa Charlie Fontenot; brothers, Able Fontenot, Melton Fontenot, John Fontenot, Harris Fontenot, and Lee Fontenot; sisters, Clammie Goldman, Rose Marcantel, Eula Fontenot, and Eva Miller; and son-in-law, Tommy Gene Ware.

At the request of the family, a visitation will be held at Ardoin’s Funeral Home in Ville Platte on Friday, July 28, 2023, from 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM. Concluding the 2:00 PM funeral service, burial will follow in the Platin Cemetery.
