Gregory Mark Soileau, a loving family man passed away on September 29, 2023, at the age of 62. He was born on February 18, 1961, in his hometown of Ville Platte, Louisiana. Gregory's deep love for his family and his devotion to them were the cornerstones of his life.

He pursued various interests that enriched his spirit. An avid fisherman who reveled in the tranquility of nature's embrace, he found solace within the gently flowing waters and patiently waiting for a bite from the elusive catch. Gregory's affection for animals extended beyond his hobbies as he cultivated a deep love for ducks, quail, chickens, and sheep. He found unity with the natural world around him and nurtured these creatures as his own. The power of music moved him deeply, offering solace during times of joy and struggle alike. Additionally, Gregory was an ardent metal-detector enthusiast. This captivating hobby allowed him to uncover hidden treasures from eras long past—an exciting quest that allowed him to connect our present world with history.

Gregory will forever be remembered for the cherished moments he spent with his loved ones. His devotion to his family was unparalleled, and he found immense joy in their company. Whether it was gathering around the dinner table or embarking on exciting adventures together, Gregory treasured every second spent with his wife, Darlene Fontenot Soileau. Their union was a testament to love and fidelity as they celebrated 42 beautiful years of marriage.

He is also survived by his daughters, Jenny Veillon (Jonas), Hillary Meyer (Kyle); brother, Ben Soileau (Donna); mother-in-law, Dorothy Fontenot; grandchildren, Gavin Veillon, Abby Veillon, Zoe Guillory, Isabelle Meyer, Gabriel Meyer, and Rose Emily Meyer; and great-grandchild, Lucas Ardoin.

He is proceeded in death by his parents, John Bennett Soileau and Rose Emily Stromer Soileau; brother, Mitchell Joseph Soileau; and father-in-law, Paulin L. Fontenot.

Gregory's commitment to serving his country shone brightly during his time as an Army Veteran. His unwavering dedication and sacrifice in protecting the nation he loved will always be remembered. He was also a member of the Acts Community and Knights of Columbus.

In honor of Gregory Mark Soileau's life, visitation services will be held on October 1, 2023, at Ardoin's Funeral Home in Ville Platte. Family and friends are invited to pay their respects from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and to resume on October 2, 2023, beginning at 9:00 AM until 12:30 PM. A Rosary will be prayed on Sunday, October 1, 2023, at 6:00 PM. Mass will be held on October 2, 2023, at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church in Ville Platte at 1:00 P.M., with a burial taking place afterward at Sacred Heart Mausoleum at 2:15 p.m.
