Glenn Paul Ortego, lovingly known as "Pop," was a lifelong resident of Grand Prairie and a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He was a kind and hardworking man who believed deeply in his Savior, Jesus Christ. He was a faithful member of Our Savior's Church in Ville Platte and attended every Sunday. A proud graduate of Grand Prairie High School, Glenn worked for many years as a skilled welder and fitter. He took great pride in his work and was known for being one of the hardest-working men around. He also proudly served his country with honor and valor as a member of the Army National Guard.

Glenn loved his family and found joy in the everyday things in life. He enjoyed cutting his grass, keeping his truck clean, feeding his birds, caring for his dogs, and decorating his home for the holidays. He was also an excellent cook, often spending his weekends stirring a pot and making gravy while listening to Zydeco and classic rock. Cars and racing were a lifelong passion. Beginning at just ten years old, Glenn worked alongside his Daddy and eventually built his own cars. He loved the sound of an engine and the thrill of shifting gears.

Most of all, Glenn was a family man who showed his love by taking care of the people around him. His kindness, hard work, faith, and love for his family will be remembered by all who knew him.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 18 years, Judy Fletcher Ortego; daughters, Kimberly LaCroix, Annette Guillary, Rose Vidrine, Brandy Ortego, and Shannon Ortego; sons, Mike LaCroix and Willie Desormeaux Jr.; 19 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and his brother, Dale Ortego.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Linton and Mary Belle Ortego; and brothers, Kent and Todd Ortego.

Glenn will be deeply missed, but his love, faith, and memory will live on through the family he loved so dearly.
