Glenda Gayle Fontenot

May 28, 1934 — February 19, 2021

VILLE PLATTE – Funeral Services will be held at a 1:00 PM Mass of Christian Burial, at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church in Ville Platte, on Tuesday, February 23, 2021 for Glenda Gayle Ardoin Fontenot, 86, who passed away on Friday, February 19, 2021.

Father Andrew Killeen, associate pastor at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, will be celebrant of the mass and conduct services.

Burial will take place at Sacred Heart Cemetery.

Gayle was a loving Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother. She lived life to the fullest and was always known as a “happy go lucky” person by family and friends. She loved to dance and she never met a stranger. She had a master’s degree in mathematics and taught school at Sacred Heart for over 30 years. She may have been small in stature, but she had a big Heart and always said, “dynamite comes in small packages.” She was affectionately known as “Mrs. Bevy” to her students. She loved each and every one of her students as if they were her own. She was married to her husband, Bevy, for 60 years. They were known as the most loving couple you could ever meet! She chose to wear her wedding dress for the funeral and we all believe that they are united in Heaven today!

She is survived by three daughters, Jennifer Walker and husband, Tony of Ville Platte, Marie Celeste Hudspeth and husband, Dean of Lafayette, and Brenda Lafleur and husband, Joseph Jr. of Point Blue; two sons, John Fontenot and wife, Debbie of Ville Platte and Steven Fontenot of Ville Platte; ten grandchildren, Nicholas, Jordan and Courtney Fontenot; Jack and Joseph Walker, Heidi, Bryan and Charlie Lafleur, Alana Hudspeth, and Kaitlyn Fontenot; and six great grandchildren, Anderson, Ruby, Tripp, Tessa, Collin, and Hudson.

Gayle is preceded in death by her husband, Beverly Gene Fontenot; parents, John Ardoin and Louella Landreneau Ardoin; two infant sons, John Herman and Gregory Paul Fontenot; two grandsons, Samuel Hudspeth and Quinten Fontenot; and sister, Joan Marie Ardoin Heine.

At the request of the family, visitation will take place at Ardoin’s Funeral Home in Ville Platte on Tuesday, February 23, 2021 from 9:00 AM until 1:00 PM.  A rosary will be recited at 12:00 PM.
