BATON ROUGE – Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM at Ardoin’s Funeral Home in Ville Platte on Saturday, December 11, 2021, for Gary Wayne Fontenot, 54, who passed away on Monday, December 6, 2021, in Baton Rouge, LA.
Deacon Chuck Ortego will conduct funeral services.
Burial will follow in the Evangeline Memorial Cemetery.
Gary Wayne Fontenot was born in Ville Platte, Louisiana on September 19, 1967, to Valentine Fontenot, Jr. and Mary Godeaux Fontenot. He was a true outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing. He also loved his dogs, raising doves and working outdoors. He had a deep love for music and enjoyed playing his guitar and listening to classic rock. He was devoted to his family. His family and friends will miss him greatly and will always hold onto their precious memories.
Gary is survived by his fiancé, Sharon Dykes; two sons, Derek Joseph Fontenot and wife, Lauren of San Jose, CA and Colin Wayne Fontenot of Turkey Creek; two sisters, Linda Fontenot of Marksville, LA and Dorothy Guillory and husband, Mike of Ville Platte; and stepdaughter, Kimber Danielle Dykes and girlfriend, Britney Mae Waites.
He is preceded in death by parents, Valentine Fontenot, Jr and Mary Godeaux Fontenot; and sister, Mary Ann Guillory.
At the request of the family, visitation will be held on Friday, December 10, 2021, at Ardoin’s Funeral Home in Ville Platte from 4:00 PM – 9:00 PM. Visitation will resume on Saturday, December 11, 2021, from 8:00 AM until time of service.
