Evelyn McNeil Holt

Evelyn Holt, a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away on Monday, June 16, 2025, in Ville Platte, Louisiana, at the age of 77. Born on February 12, 1948, in New Orleans, she was the cherished daughter of Clinton McNeil and Ester Park, both of whom have preceded her in death.

Evelyn embraced her role as a housewife with unwavering devotion, dedicating herself to her family with a love that knew no bounds. For fifty-eight beautiful years, she was the loving spouse of Roger Holt, creating a home filled with warmth, laughter, and countless cherished memories. Together they welcomed two children into the world, Timothy Holt and Tasha Strain, whom they raised with kindness and encouragement.

As a grandmother, her heart expanded even further, encompassing three grandchildren: Evan, Tyler, and Cody Strain. Each of them brought joy to her life, and she relished every moment spent with them, showering them with affection and wisdom. The arrival of her great-grandchild, Adriana Strain, only deepened the love that filled her heart, and she took pride in every milestone achieved by her growing family.

Evelyn will be remembered for her nurturing spirit and her ability to bring people together. Her home was a sanctuary where family stories were shared, laughter echoed, and love flourished. She leaves behind a legacy of love that will be felt for generations to come.

Evelyn is survived by her beloved husband, Roger; their son, Timothy; their daughter, Tasha; and their grandchildren, Evan, Tyler, and Cody; as well as her great-grandchild, Adriana.

She is preceded in death by her father, Clinton McNeil; her mother, Ester Park; and her brothers, Craig and Bruce McNeil. Each of them remains in the hearts of those who knew and loved them.

A visitation will be held on Monday, June 23, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM at Ardoin's Funeral Home in Ville Platte. Visitation will resume on Tuesday, June 24, 2025, from 8:00 AM until the time of the funeral service. Following the service, she will be laid to rest at Vandenburg Cemetery in Turkey Creek.
