Eva Lou "T-Lou" M. Fontenot

Eva M. “T-Lou” Fontenot, born on Monday, November 30, 1931, in Ville Platte, Louisiana, peacefully passed away on Wednesday, November 27, 2024, in her beloved hometown at the age of 92. Funeral services will be held at Ardoin’s Funeral Home on Monday, December 2, 2024 at 2:00 PM. Burial will follow in the Jules Cemetery with Father Tom Voorhies officiating services.

A cherished member of her community, Eva dedicated many years of her life to being a school cafeteria worker, where she not only nourished young minds but also filled their hearts with the warmth of her loving personality.

Known for her remarkable baking skills, Eva was particularly famous for her homemade bread and pecan praline, delights that will undoubtedly remain fondly remembered by all who tasted them. Her loving and caring nature was evident in her desire to ensure that everyone around her had what they needed. She was a kind soul, always willing to lend a hand, and her presence brought joy to many.

In addition to her dedication to her work and community, Eva found solace in yard work, nurturing the beauty of her surroundings. Her passion for the outdoors was yet another reflection of her vibrant spirit and love for life.

Eva's life will be celebrated and honored at Ardoin's Funeral Home in Ville Platte, Louisiana. Friends and family are invited to attend the visitation on Monday, December 2, 2024, from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM, with a rosary at 1:30 PM.

As we remember Eva M. Fontenot, let us celebrate her legacy of love, kindness, and culinary excellence that will forever linger in the hearts of those she touched including daughters, Cheryl Lafleur of Chicot, Mary Irene Nichols (Nick) of Ville Platte, Jennifer Fontenot Price of Basile, and Christine F. Fontenot of Ville Platte and daughter in law, Voncille Fontenot. Also left behind to cherish her memory are her sister, Brenda Monier Thorpe; 20 grandchildren, 39 great grandchildren, and 22 great great grandchildren.

Eva now rests with her parents, Yourick and Alidia Monier; husband, Irving Ben Fontenot; son, Charlie “The Cop” Fontenot and Ricky “Roach” Fontenot; grandchildren, April Renee Fontenot and Chantel Marie Fontenot; son in law, Francil Benny Fontenot; and her three sisters.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests to have masses at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in honor of Eva.

The family would like to thank the Allegiance Hospice Care team and her caretakers, Cathy Toups and Michelle Thrasher for their excellent and caring care they provided.
