A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Eula Chapman at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, April 5, 2023, at Our Lady Queen of All Saints Catholic Church in Ville Platte followed by burial at Fontenot Cemetery in Tate Cove. Eula passed away on Saturday, April 1, 2023, at Prairie Manor Nursing Home. She was born on October 3, 1929, in Grand Prairie to the late Hosea and Amy Soileau. Eula, like many women in the area raised six children while working alongside her husband, Andrew McDaniel Sr., on the family farm, where she could be found picking cotton, digging sweet potatoes and pulling watermelons. After the passing of her husband, Andrew, she married Roger Chapman. Eula worked at Sacred Heart Catholic School in the Cafeteria for several years, before retiring. She is fondly remembered by her children as the best baker, especially her homemade bread.
She is survived by son, Richard Lee McDaniel and his wife, Sandra of Ville Platte; daughter, Sandra Kaye McDaniel of Ville Platte; 13 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and sister, Ellen Jean Guidry of New Orleans.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Hosea and Amy Soileau; husbands, Andrew McDaniel Sr. and Roger Chapman; sons, David Wayne McDaniel, Andrew McDaniel Jr, Donald Ray McDaniel; and Barry James McDaniel; grandchildren Joey Smith McDaniel and Cody Joe McDaniel; and five brothers.
Visitation will be held from 3:00-8:00 PM on Tuesday, April 4, 2023, at Ardoin’s Funeral Home of Ville Platte with a Rosary will be recited at 6:30 PM. Visitation will resume at 8:00 AM on Wednesday, April 5, 2023.
