VILLE PLATTE It is with heavy hearts that the family of Etta Jane Thibodeaux Fontenot, 67, announces her passing on Tuesday, January 14, 2014 at Heritage Manor Nursing Home of Ville Platte. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM Thursday, January 16, 2014 at The Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church of Ville Platte Rite of Committal will follow in Gates of Heaven Cemetery. Father Jason Vidrine will act as Celebrant for all services.
A devoted wife, stepmother, step grandmother, sister and aunt, Etta leaves behind her beloved husband of thirty seven years, Roland Fontenot of the Belair Cove community and her step daughters: Rachelle Butler of Turkey Creek and Tunita Carraway and her husband, Cody of upper Pine Prairie. Precious memories will be forever cherished by Ettas six step grandchildren and two step great grandchildren, she felt blessed to have shared in their lives. She will certainly be missed by her only sister, Dorothy Ann Thibodeaux Fontenot and her husband, P.L. of Ville Platte and her five remaining brothers, Gene Thibodeaux and his wife, Hazel of Catahoula, Charles Thibodeaux and his companion, Vena of Texas, John A. Thibodeaux and his wife, Nettie of Lafayette, Ronald Thibodeaux of Texas and Darrel Thibodeaux and his wife, Debbie of Eunice. Etta also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews whom she absolutely adored.
Etta devoted her life to the care and happiness of her family. She was a kind and loving woman and spending time with her family and dear friends brought a great deal of joy to her life. She will be mourned by many.
She will now rest in Heaven with her parents: Elzia and Isabella Miller Thibodeaux and a brother, Elvy Thibodeaux. Their reunion will be a joyous one, indeed.
At the request of the Fontenots, visitation will be held at Ardoins Funeral Home of Ville Platte beginning at 4:00 PM Wednesday, January 15, 2014 and will continue until 10:00 PM that evening and resume at 8:00 AM Thursday morning and continue until service time. A Rosary will be recited in her honor Wednesday evening, time pending at this moment.
