Erven Bourque

April 29, 1955 — August 3, 2024

Erven James Bourque, a beloved figure in Ville Platte, Louisiana, has sadly passed at the age of 69 in his hometown. Born on Friday, April 29, 1955, in Lafayette, Louisiana, Erven dedicated his life to serving his community through a distinguished career in law enforcement. Funeral services will be held at Ardoin’s Funeral Home in Ville Platte on Wednesday, August 7, 2024 at 2:00 PM followed by burial in the Old Ville Platte Cemetery with Pastor Kevin West officiating services.

Throughout his remarkable journey, Erven spent 30 years with the Ville Platte Police Department and 35 years working in Animal Control. His commitment to public service led him to the Evangeline Parish Sheriff's Office where he served for 5 years.

Beyond his professional accomplishments, Erven was a man of many passions. An avid outdoorsman, he found solace in activities like hunting and fishing. He also enjoyed his vegetable garden. Music also held a special place in Erven's heart – he could often be found singing and playing his guitar. His interests extended to riding, sightseeing, and even window shopping.

One of Erven's greatest joys was found in the melodies of classic country and Cajun French music. His musical talent shone brightly as he played with passion in the band known as The Cajun Five.
