Emma Joy Deshotel

A Mass of Christian burial will be held for Emma Joy Deshotel at 1:00 PM on Friday, September 15, 2023, at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church in Ville Platte, Louisiana, followed by entombment at Evangeline Memorial Park Mausoleum.

Emma Joy Deshotel passed away on Friday, September 8, 2023, at Mill Creek Nursing Home for Rehabilitation in Silsbee, Texas, at the age of 90.  Emma Joy was an extraordinary mother, wife, grandmother and great grandmother. She enjoyed completing word search puzzles, baking, staying at home, which was always kept immaculately clean, and camping where she loved to “shoot the breeze.”  Emma Joy was a member of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Daughters and enjoyed having the sisters over for coffee and biscuits during prayer meetings. Emma would walk back and forth to work at American Security Bank where she served 20 plus years and would also walk to G. Ardoin’s. She was also her parents care giver for many years.

She is survived by her son, Kenneth “Dizzy” Deshotel and companion, Ginger Bandeaux; granddaughter, Danielle Burleigh and spouse, Randy Burleigh; grandson, Courtney Deshotel and spouse, Mendy Deshotel; great-grandchildren, Lindsey Vidrine, Ethan Deshotel, Madelyn Burleigh, Amelia Burleigh, Faithlynn Elizabeth Deshotel, Damien James Deshotel, Courtney Grant Deshotel, Huntley Joseph Deshotel, Olivia Lynn Deshotel; great great grandchildren, Jaxston Benoit and Juliet Manuel, and one sister, Barbara Vidrine Arnaud.

She is proceeded in death by her parents, Joel, and Hilda Vidrine.

At the request of the family, visitation will be held on Thursday, September 14, 2023, at 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM, A rosary will be prayed at 6:00 PM. Visitation will resume on Friday, September 15, 2023, from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM.
