Earleen Launey Boyce, a cherished mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 11, 2025, at the remarkable age of 95, surrounded by her devoted family. A lifelong resident of Ville Platte, Louisiana, Earleen dedicated her life to serving others and making her corner of the world a better place.
Earleen's professional journey began with the Department of Welfare, where she worked diligently for 40 years. Her commitment to helping families in need reflected her generous spirit. Upon retiring from the Welfare Department, Earleen pursued her passion for real estate, obtaining her license and continuing to make a positive impact in the lives of those she encountered for several years thereafter. She was not only a trailblazer for women, earning her college degree during an era when higher education was not commonly pursued by ladies, but she also exemplified the spirit of determination and resilience.
Beyond her remarkable career, Earleen was actively involved in her community. She was a proud member of the American Legion Auxiliary, the Evangeline Parish Homemakers, and the Advisory Board of the Evangeline Council on Aging. Earleen also dedicated her time to the Ladies Auxiliary and enjoyed many moments at the Ville Platte Country Club. Her commitments were fueled by her passion for service and connection.
Earleen found joy in various hobbies, especially cooking and baking cakes, which she lovingly prepared for friends and family. Her love of reading, along with a passion for travel and attending sporting events, enriched her life and the lives of those around her.
Her proudest accomplishments, however, transcended her professional life. Above all else, Earleen took tremendous pride in being a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her nurturing spirit left an indelible mark on her family, and she was honored to be nominated for Ville Platte Woman of the Year in 1992.
Left behind to cherish her memories are her daughters, Jennifer Kim Soileau and husband, Joey and Kathryn Soileau “Kitty” and husband, Guy; her son, Todd Boyce; her grandchildren, Meredith Schexnider (Sean), Haley Bordelon (Lucas), Peyton Soileau (Paige), Ryan Soileau (Ashley); her great grandchildren, Boyce, Alyssa, Liam, Ella, Julia, Lila, Henry, Charlotte, Leo and Linus.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Ronald S. Boyce; her parents, Oscar Launey and Agnes F. Launey; and her sisters, Nazel L. Guillory and Velma L. Hand.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Our Lady Queen of All Saints Catholic Church in Ville Platte with a visitation taking place on Wednesday, May 14, 2025, from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM, followed by a Rosary at 2:00 PM with the Mass of Christian Burial starting at 2:30 PM.
As we remember Earleen Launey Boyce, we celebrate a life filled with kindness, devotion, and unwavering love. She leaves behind a legacy of compassion and inspiration that will continue to ripple through her family and community for generations to come.
