VILLE PLATTE - It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of a beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, Dorothy Rose King "Dot" Ardoin. Born on December 19, 1953, in Lake Cove, LA, peacefully passed on Wednesday, June 5, 2024, at her home surrounded by loved ones, at the age of 70. A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, June 8, 2024 at Lake Cove Baptist Church. A burial will follow at McCormick Cemetery.
Dot had a passion for traveling, cherishing the memories made with her late sister, Janice, as they journeyed to see their favorite music act, the Statler Brothers. Dot's adventurous spirit took her to cherished destinations like Orlando, Nashville, Washington DC, and Salt Lake City, where she created treasured memories. She adored the holiday season, relishing the joy of decorating her home and Christmas tree with a joy that was infectious to all those around her.
Among her passions, raising her beloved pets brought Dot immense happiness, particularly her cherished Pekinese and Scottish Terrier breeds. Music was a vital part of Dot's life, and it was through the airwaves that she connected with her husband, Mark, sharing a love for the song "To Love Somebody" by the Bee Gees. This union was one of pure harmony and love, a testament to the beautiful connections Dot made throughout her life.
Dot's greatest love was her family, especially her son, Keith, and grandson, Teddy, who held a special place in her heart.
She will be deeply missed by her loving husband of 50 years, Martel Ardoin, Jr. (Mark Layne); her son, David Keith Ardoin of Lake Cove; her grandson, Teddy Ardoin; her sister, Annie Monroe; her brother-in-law, Berl Clark; her sister-in-law, Jalaine Martel of Lafayette and numerous nieces and nephews.
Dot is preceded in death by her parents, Calvis and Julie King; her brothers, Johnny and Danny King and her sisters, Maggie King Clark and Janice Fontenot.
At the request of the Ardoin family, a visitation will be held at Ardoin’s Funeral Home of Ville Platte on Friday, June 7, 2024, beginning at 3:00 pm until 8:00 pm.
