Dorothy Mayer, a cherished soul known for her unwavering happiness and warmth, passed away peacefully on March 14, 2026, in Pine Prairie. Born on August 23, 1943, in Point Blue, Dorothy’s life was a testament to kindness and dedication that touched many hearts throughout her 82 years.
For over two decades, Dorothy devoted her life to the care and comfort of others as a Certified Nursing Assistant. Her gentle spirit and genuine love for people made her not just a caregiver, but a steadfast friend to those she assisted daily. Her commitment in this role exemplified the very best of humanity, bringing solace and hope to patients and families alike.
Beyond her career, Dorothy’s passions spoke volumes about her nurturing nature. She found joy in helping with activities at the nursing home, always eager to bring smiles and laughter. She delighted in cooking for her children, infusing every meal with love and warmth like a true mother’s touch. In quieter moments, she enjoyed coloring books and solving word puzzles, simple pleasures that reflected her vibrant curiosity and zest for life.
Dorothy’s radiant happiness was infectious, and she was truly a people person who embraced everyone with open arms and a kind heart. Her vibrant spirit will live on in the memories of all who were fortunate to know her.
Dorothy leaves behind her children, Stephen Bordelon, Dennis Bordelon, Cathy Bordelon, Tracey Bordelon. Her grandchildren, Kayla and Brian Morien, Taylor and Colby Pettypool, Brandon Bordelon, Stephen J Bordelon, Alyssa Bordelon, Lauren and Dustin Meadors, Sylus Cartwright, Journey Bordelon, Chelsie Bordelon and Robert, Andrew Bourque, Shelly Fontenot, Jared Bordelon, Ashley and Cy Vicknair, Alayna Kent Filipinas, Ava Bordelon, Adalynn Bordelon, Brody Fontenot, Ainsle Fontenot. Greatgrandchildren Daphanie, Valln Hyatt, Bailey Bordelon, Kyler Bordelon, Landon Pettypool, Luca, Emery, Greyson, Atlas Taylor, Rainn Taylor, Onix Stretz, Nyxxi Stretz, Odin Stretz. Godchild and niece Marry Ellen Guillory and Jenny Lee Vidrine. Ex-son-in-law Edna Fontenot.
Dorothy is preceded in death by Her Parents, Clement and Avy Deshotel, her husband, Joseph AB Bordelon, brother, Allan Deshotel, son, Joseph Anthony Bordelon, and grandchildren, Victoria, Nicholas, and Cassie Fontenot.
Dorothy’s family and friends will gather to honor and remember her at a visitation held at Ardoin's Funeral Home, 709 W Main St, Ville Platte, LA, on March 16 from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM, and continuing on March 17 from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM. A rosary will be prayed in her memory at the same location on March 17 at 12:00 PM, followed by a Mass at Our Lady Queen of All Saints Catholic Church, 1012 West Dardeau Street, Ville Platte, beginning at 1:00PM.
Dorothy Mayer’s passing leaves an indelible void in the hearts of those who knew her, yet her spirit’s gentle light will continue to guide and inspire. In remembering her warmth, kindness, and enduring happiness, all who loved Dorothy hold dear a precious gift — the timeless impact of a life truly well-lived.
