Dorothy "Dot" DeVillier Chapman

VILLE PLATTE – Funeral services for Dorothy “Dot” DeVillier Chapman will be held at Ardoin’s Funeral Home in Ville Platte on Wednesday, May 24, 2023 at 1:00 PM.  Burial will follow in the Evangeline Memorial Park Cemetery. Service will be conducted by Randy Satterfield, Luther Raine, and Ruth Warner.   Dot passed away in Ville Platte at the age of 77.

Dorothy “Dot” DeVillier Chapman was born on Wednesday, December 26, 1945 in Ville Platte, Louisiana to Charles and Emma Pierrottie DeVillier.  Dot was a lifelong resident of Ville Platte, was strong in her faith in God and never wavered in what she believed in.  Dot loved to fish and never turned down the opportunity to get out on the water.  She also enjoyed other hobbies including reading from her large collection of books, thrift shopping, and sewing.  Dot’s greatest joy came from taking care of and spending time with her loved ones.  Her family has many fond memories of Dot that will forever live in their hearts.

Dot is survived by one son, Charles Dirk Chapman; two daughters, Jacinda  Ardoin (Marty), and Felisha Anderson; seven grandchildren, Caleb Vidrine, Kelsey Manuel (Sage), Laramie Chapman (Kelsey Petersen),  Lance Chapman (Shelby Manuel), Tyler Donaldson, Dusty Chapman, and Ashley Ardoin; three great grandchildren, Hezekiah Newt, Daniel, and Jax;  sisters-in-law, Nettie DeVillier and Novella DeVillier; granddaughter-in-law, Kari Vidrine; brother, Dowell DeVillier (Norma); and sister, Kat Soileau.  Also left behind are her numerous nieces and nephews who she adored.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Charles Andrus Chapman; parents, Charles and Emma Pierrottie DeVillier; sister, Mavis Lafleur; brothers, Silton DeVillier, George DeVillier,  and Danny DeVillier (Martha);  niece, Chris Landry; nephews, David Lafleur and Mark Lafleur, and brother-in-law, Jim Soileau.

At the request of the family, visitation will take place at Ardoin’s Funeral Home in Ville Platte on Wednesday, May 24, 2023 beginning at 10:00 AM until time of service.
