Ville Platte-A Mass of Christian Burial for Claudia Downs Southwell, 72, will be Tuesday, April 29, 2008 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Peters Catholic Church in Pine Prairie. Burial will follow in the Addison-Johnson Cemetery with Father Harold Imanshah officiating.

Mrs. Southwell, a resident of Bayou Chicot, passed away on Saturday, April 26, 2008 at her residence after a courageous three year battle with cancer.

A loving daughter, wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and friend, she is survived by her mother, Ruby Thibodeaux Johnson; her husband Robert Southwell; two sons, Prentice Buddy Downs, Jr. and Father Greg Downs; one daughter, Cynthia Downs Pace and husband, Samuel; her most loved sisters and their husbands, Jackie Robert Jones and Sue Jasper Fontenot; her wonderful extended family of in-laws, Helen Southwell Thorp Coval; Blanche Southwell Dodson; Violet Southwell Smith Art; Wayne Southwell Janice; Warren Southwell Dorothy, Michael Downs Beverly; James Downs Dotsy; Bobbie Downs Perry Marvin; Carol Downs Montgomery and Charles, Penny Downs Falke Larry; Sue Downs; her grandchildren and their spouses, Barry Downs Shelly; Justin Downs Brandy; Joseph Pace; Jessica Pace Burkett Kevin; Phillip Pace; Cindy Pace Hilborn David, Samuel Pace, Jr. Kelly, Anthony Pace Lori, Rebecca Pace, Vincent Pace; her great-grandchildren, Jonathan Kari Downs, Emma Leigh Burkett; Chester Johnathan Hilborn; Shannen Pace; Katie Sarah Pace; Alexandria, Brittaney, Bobby, Gary Pace.

She was preceded in death by her father, Eluid Johnson.

Family request that visiting hours be observed on Monday, April 28, 2008 from 2:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at Ardoins Funeral Home in Ville Platte, and again on Tuesday, April 29, 2008 from 8:00 a.m. until services. A Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. Monday evening.
